Barack Hussein Obama, Reverend Jeremiah Wright Jr and the war of words…

It was bound to happen. The war of words between Barack Hussein Obama and Reverend Jeremiah Wright Jr. would get ugly.

I said back in March:

While I don’t believe that Jeremiah Wright Jr.’s statements will derail the Obama campaign, it does help expose Obama for what he truly is.

[...]

I can not believe for one minute that someone like Wright, just flipped a switch one day and decided to be the acidic, abrasive preacher that nearly undermined a campaign for President of the United States.

So what really happened? What really sparked this battle? I believe it went something like this.

Barack Hussein Obama attended Trinity Church of Christ, listened to, accepted and even agreed with Reverend Wright’s hate-filled rhetoric. More than likely sitting in the special “Amen Row” for large donors.

Obama makes a name for himself as the speaker at the 2004 Democratic Convention; eventually becomes the United State’s first viable Black American candidate for POTUS.

After Jeremiah Wright’s ideology came to light, Obama, not wanting to alienate his spiritual advisor/mentor took a light handed approach in Philadelphia, stopping short of condemning his Pastor’s remarks. Removes all reference to Jeremiah Wright from his website. (See: Little Green Footballs).

Jeremiah Wright, feeling betrayed by a “politician”, lashes out in what he perceives to be a “saving face” maneuver further confirming his hate mongering ideas, warped view of America and Christianity.

This paints Obama into a corner. He now, to remain viable, must distance himself from Wright, claiming Wright harmed their relationship and he now has nothing to do with him. But claims, he still remains a member of Trinity. And I think if we study the other pastors at Trinity we will find a similar ideological thread running through the organization as a whole. I can not believe for one minute that Reverend Jeremiah Wright would hire associate pastors that did not agree with him. Do you?

So now Obama has denounced his spiritual advisor. The man, in Obama’s own words, brought him to Christianity. My question remains. Is Obama’s Christianity that of Wrights? The skewed, hate filled, Christianity of Jeremiah Wright? Or the loving, wonderful, Christianity that I enjoy, that of God and the wonderful love of Jesus Christ? While the actual view of Christianity really doesn’t matter, the fact that we don’t really know where he stands does.

Is Obama the hate filled Christian of Wright’s ideological pool? I think he may be. But then, I’m just a typical gun toting, church going white person.

Either way, you can tell that Obama is trying to have the best of both worlds. He wants the folks around him that he is familiar with, the ones who have been there for him in the past, but he doesn’t want the public to know just exactly where he stands on some of these issues.

Sorry Senator. Pick one.

My favorite quote of the day regarding this from Leslie Carbone: In short, Sen. Obama displayed himself once again to be as unfit for the presidency as Rev. Wright is for the pulpit.
