Severe storms… This is growing old…

Filed under: Chesapeake, Hampton Roads, Virginia, Weather — Tags: , , — Scott @ 19:01 pm

I always enjoy a good thunderstorm! Kat at CatHouse Chat even commented on it the other day on her blog.

BUT… we’re under another tornado watch.

I didn’t really get too concerned about them until recently. I mean, I was always watchful, careful and made sure we were prepared, but I never got overly concerned.

Then of course the tornado in Suffolk.
I’m just thankful no one was seriously injured.

  1. These would be the watches and Warnings from Ohio earlier today… You’re welcome!

We had the ol’ sirens going off earlier. Just missed my area… although when I was outside watching it, there were a few spinning, low clouds trying to form up.

I grew up in Ohio so these Tornadoes are nothing new to me. Hurricanes were something to get used to, but at least then there are days of notice.

On a side note, I get real annoyed when people describe a tornado’s sound as “Like a freight train”… really? what do you have to compare this too? When was the last time a train went through your house or over your head? How do you know it sounds like that.

and for the record, I have been through 3 confrimed touch down tornadoes, and countless ones that the weather folks said may or may not have been actually a tornado (I guess big ass trees twist out of the ground just be wind :-)
